Three PhD from Politecnico di Torino won the Travisions contesta for Young Researcher

The research project conducted by PhD Pier Giuseppe Anselma – DIMEAS, Claudio Maino and Alessia Musa – DENERG won the first prize in the "Road transport" cathegory in Young Researcher European Contest Travisions 2020.

In the next future, the objective will be the reduction of global emissions for road transport. Three young researchers from Politecnico di Torino submitted a project with the aim to reduce the fuel consumption and the emissions of HEV vehicles, implementing a Real-time Energy Management System adaptable to the driving behavior of the end users.

THEO : “Tailored Hybrid Emission Optimizer” is a smart system for the energy management of the HEVs (mild, full, or plug-in), implemented with the objective to maximize the fuel savings in relation with the driver behavior. The system integrates an advanced algorithm that, starting from the behavior of the end user, adapts in an optimal way the control stategy of the electric engine, with potential economic benefits both for automotive industries and end users.

The project has been developed under the supervision of Prof. Giovanni Belingardi (DIMEAS), Ezio Spessa and Daniela Misul (DENERG), and it refers to the activities of CARS – Center for Automotive Research and Sustainable Mobility.
